2001: A Space Odyssey

In 1968, Stanley Kubrick saw the future when he released 2001: A Space Odyssey. 2001 is a story featuring huge questions that explore evolution, existentialism, and AI, amongst other big ideas all viewed through the lens of 3 different periods of human development. 2001 initially struggled at the theatre but soon people came to see something more. Its groundbreaking effects and massive philosophical questions began to open people’s hearts and minds to it until eventually, it became regarded as culturally significant and has since been preserved in the National Film Registry.
