Close Encounters of the Third Kind

In 1977, Steven Spielberg brought us Close Encounters of the Third Kind and his take on first contact with aliens.  Little gropy aliens.  This now classic flick pleased movie goers and critics alike, but almost 40 years later, does this movie hold up?  Listen as Jon, Colin and Paul discuss the merits and shortcomings of this sci-film and decide to fly away with the little visitors to a better life, or if they would rather have their memories erased.

Austin Powers

In 1997, the world was introduced to Austin Powers, International Man of Mystery.  From the brain of Mike Myers, this nasty toothed Brit with wit took penis pump jokes to the next level and stole our hearts, cursing us to years of bad halloween costumes and annoying catch phrases.  Will Jon, Colin and Paul find this movie to be groovy and shagadelic, or will 21 years and two bad sequels result in a slow death by sharks with frickin' laser beams on their heads?

Weird Science

In 1985, the world was blessed with John Hughes' third directorial endeavour, Weird Science.  If you were to mash together Aladin, Frankenstein, and parts of Mad Max, this movie about two highschool kids trying desparately to be popular would be the result.  Will Jon, Colin and Paul party with these teenagers and high five them on Monday, or will they crash the party, steal the girls, and leave this movie behind with a raging wedgie? 

Grosse Pointe Blank

In 1997, John Cusak starred in no less than 5 films, including Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, Con Air, and easily the best of the bunch, Grosse Pointe Blank.  If you like love stories, highschool reunions, and a conflicted anti-hero hitman, then this movie is for you.  But does it hold up after 21 years?  Listen to see if Jon, Colin and Paul have a 20 year reunion of happy memories, or if they put a hit out on this flick.

Sixteen Candles

The crew of Hold Up travels back in time to 1984 when John Hughes made his directorial debut with Sixteen Candles.  Can the winning combination of Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, and Long Duk Dong fill in the gaps of this simple story, or will this movie be forgotten as quickly as Samantha's 16th birthday?

Donnie Darko

In 2001, the world was presented with Donnie Darko, a first time effort from Director Richard Kelly.  Even with a poor showing in the box office, Donnie was not to be held back, and the movie received critical acclaim and a cult following.  After Colin and Paul view the theatrical cut and Jon taking in the Director's cut, listen to see if Donnie Darko holds up, or if the guys doubt their commitment to Sparkle Motion. 

Minority Report

In 2002, movie fans were wowed by the combination of Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg in the sci-fi action blockbuster Minority Report.  Received to critical acclaim, we revisit this movie 16 years after its release and see if digging up the past gets a thumbs up from the pannel, or if all we get is dirty.

The Rock

In 1996 the world was blessed with Michael Bay's The Rock.  A commercial success, this movie was intended to take the action genre to the next level, with explosions, one liners, more explosions, and Michael Biehn.  Does The Rock Hold Up and $&*$@ the prom queen, or will it go the way of losers and whine about its bescht?

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Ferris Bueller's Day Off is the 1986 acclaimed hit from director John Hughes, who claims he wrote the screenplay in six days.  Find out if Jon, Paul and Colin's fond memories of Ferris and his antics hold up, or will we crash a Ferrari through the story and characters and stare in shock at the wreckage.
